The Bobby Valentine Sport Show: Episode 11

Alrighty, hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of The Bobby Valentine Sport show, another MLB episode, another weekly MLB show. Let’s dive into our weekly recap. If you haven’t been noticing, the Atlanta Braves are excelling in baseball. Matt Olson and Ronald Acuna Jr. are shattering records and putting up historic numbers, making them strong MVP candidates. The National League MVP race is fierce, with Acuna, Mookie, Olson, and Freddie Freeman leading the charge. Both the Braves and the Dodgers boast two MVP candidates each, contributing to arguably four of the greatest seasons in recent memory. Matt Olson is on track to break the Braves’ franchise record for home runs, while Acuna is making MLB history with 30 home runs and 60 steals in a year. Over with the Dodgers, Mookie Betts is hitting .340 with over 40 home runs and 100 RBIs from the leadoff spot. Freddie Freeman is also having a stellar season, breaking the Dodgers’ franchise record for doubles. The competition among these four players is truly exceptional.

Now, shifting gears to the hottest team in MLB over the past week and a half—the Baltimore Orioles. With an impressive 8-2 record in their last ten games, they continue to lead the AL East. Even with the loss of Felix Batista, the Orioles have shown resilience, with players like Yanir Cano and Shintaro Fujinami stepping up. The Orioles and the Rays are performing well, securing their positions in the top of the AL East, with the Orioles currently leading the division.

Switching to the Chicago Cubs, they showcase our Outfield Play of the Week featuring Pete Crow Armstrong. In his first Major League start, he made two incredible plays in center field, displaying athleticism and skill reminiscent of his impressive debut. Notably, Pete’s mother, who once played the mom in Little Big League, is now witnessing her son make waves in the big leagues.

Wrapping up the weekly recap, we touched on the impressive debut of Pete Crow Armstrong and the overall excitement building up as we approach the playoffs. As of September 13th, with about two and a half weeks left in the season, the competition is intensifying, and teams are gearing up for the postseason. Stay tuned for our Game of the Week as we continue to follow the exciting developments in the world of baseball.
