The Bobby Valentine Sport Show: Episode 42

Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of The Bobby Valentine Sport Show. I’m your host Frank Ramppen, and let’s dive into another week of the college basketball season. The regular season just wrapped up this weekend with the major conferences concluding their last games on Saturday and Sunday. This week marks the start of the All Conference tournaments, promising an action-packed schedule of college basketball that matters for the tournament. It’s a thrilling time for sports fans, with NFL free agency underway and various team moves being made.

In the midst of this excitement, let’s not forget our focus on college basketball. The week begins with a recap of the regular season and the commencement of conference championships. Some mid-major conferences have already determined their representatives for the NCAA tournament, such as Stetson making their first-ever appearance. However, the stage is set for more intense competition as teams vie for automatic bids.

Turning to the latest rankings, Houston retains its position as number one. Their dominance in the Big 12 after transitioning from the American Conference is remarkable, boasting the best defense in the country. Meanwhile, Yukon follows closely at number two, with a strong performance throughout the season. Purdue holds the third spot, celebrating senior night and eyeing victory in the Big Ten tournament.

North Carolina’s triumph over Duke secures their place at number four, clinching the regular season title for the ACC. The possibility of a rematch looms in the conference tournament, adding to the anticipation of postseason play. With the race for the final one seed in the NCAA tournament still undecided, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Arizona remain in contention, setting the stage for an exciting week ahead.
