The Bobby Valentine Sport Show: Episode 48
Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of The Bobby Valentine Sport Show. I’m your host Frank Ramppen. Let’s dive into week two of the MLB season. Baseball is back, better than ever. The full opening week has finally come to a conclusion, about to head into the second weekend of baseball. About to be unbelievable, or we just had the second week of baseball about heading into the third week, unbelievable stuff going on.
Let’s start off like we always do with our play of the week. So this one comes from Monday night’s affair in the Twin Cities Minneapolis between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins. So let’s pick things up here. Teoscar Hernandez at the dish, 2 to 2 ball game, one out, runners on first and second. Teoscar lines one into the right-center field gap, working its way away from Byron Buxton. Full extension layout, what a play from Buxton! Oh my goodness, when he is healthy roaming center field at Target Field in Minneapolis, it is an absolute joy to watch. Keeps this game tied here in the top of the sixth inning and records out number two. Look at this from the top view, that ball slicing away from him off the right-handed batter’s back. Fully extended Superman dive from Buxton puts it away for out number two and almost doubled up Freddie Freeman at second. What a play from Byron Buxton. He needs to stay healthy, play a full year in center field, please, so we could watch him put up the most insane highlight reel of all time. But Byron Buxton, unreal play to get Teoscar Hernandez for out number two.
So what a play in center field in Minnesota from Buxton. Let’s move over to the West Coast now, San Diego to be exact, for a game of the week. Petco Park celebrating its 20th anniversary on this day, so Padres versus Cubs.
