Bobby Valentine at BVSA

Coaching from the Major Leagues to Stamford

Bobby Valentine is a 2x MLB Manager of the Year, a World Series finalist, and the only American to manage in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball — winning the Japan Series with Chiba Lotte. He played for the Dodgers, Angels, and Mariners. He coached the U.S. Olympic baseball team. He built BVSA in 2006 to bring big-league coaching standards to youth athletes in his hometown.

Every BVSA coach is personally trained in Bobby’s philosophy. Summer at BVSA is what Bobby wishes he had as a kid — competitive, fun, and run by people who actually know how to coach.

Pick The Right Fit

From the minute my sister called to plan it, down to the clean up at the end — it was perfect. The 3 team members were great with a special shout-out to Austin who was the pitcher/ump and crowd control during the 2 hours. We had close to 30 fifth-grade boys and he kept them all in line. The most well-run party I have ever seen.

What Kids Actually Do

No screens. No standing around. Three hours of moving, learning, and laughing.

BVSA Summer Camp Hour 1 — warm-up and skill block on indoor turf
Hour 1

Warm-Up & Skill Block

Dynamic warm-ups led by BVSA coaches, then a focused skill block — throwing, catching, footwork, agility. Real instruction from coaches Bobby Valentine personally trained, not just supervision.

BVSA Summer Camp Hour 2 — Game of the Day, kids playing together at BVSA
Hour 2

Game of the Day

Rotating mix of kickball, wiffle ball, dodgeball, gaga ball, relay races, and obstacle courses. Full games — kids play, score, and compete with friends.

BVSA Summer Camp Hour 3 — team huddle and challenges with BVSA staff
Hour 3

Team Challenges & Competitions

BVSA-style team challenges where campers earn points all week and compete for the Friday trophy. Coaches focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.

BVSA Summer Camp Tie-Dye Friday — kids in tie-dye shirts running games
Friday

Tie-Dye Fridays

Every Friday we wrap up the week with Tie-Dye Friday — campers create their own colorful BVSA tie-dye shirt to take home. Always a favorite way to end the week.

Classic Games. Big Energy.

Each day our coaches organize teams and rotate campers through a mix of classic playground favorites and BVSA-style challenges.

Kickball

The undisputed king of camp — full innings, big swings, big plays.

🥎

Wiffle Ball

BVSA-style on the turf. Easy on the arm, hard on the scoreboard.

🔥

Dodgeball

Strategy, teamwork, and fast feet. The game kids beg to play again.

Gaga Ball

The pit game where reflexes win. Daily tournaments, daily new champs.

🏃

Relay Races

Speed, handoffs, baton work — pure team competition.

🎯

Obstacle Courses

Climb, crawl, sprint, balance. New course design every week.

Plus 🏆 Team Challenges & Competitions all week, ending in the Friday trophy.

Not Your Average Day Camp

A 40,000 sq ft training facility built by a 2x World Series manager — not a school gym.

40

Years of Coaching

Bobby Valentine founded BVSA in 2006 after 30+ years managing in MLB, Japan, and the Olympics. Every coach we hire is held to that standard.

40K

Square Feet

Full indoor turf field, batting cages, bullpens, climate-controlled. Rain doesn’t cancel camp — we just move inside.

1:5

Coach Ratio

Small groups, real attention. Every kid gets coached — not just watched. Our staff knows every camper’s name by Day 2.

The Stuff You Want to Know

Does my child need to be a serious athlete?

No. Game On! is built for any active kid 8–12 — beginner to travel-team level. We split groups by skill and energy so every camper plays at the right level. If your child has never picked up a glove, they’ll fit right in. If they play travel baseball, they’ll be challenged.

What should they bring?

Sneakers, a refillable water bottle, a snack, and sunscreen if we’re heading outside. We provide all the gear, the field, and the Friday tie-dye shirt. Lunch is not provided — pack it or pick up from EB222 Cafe on-site.

Is the camp indoors or outdoors?

Both. We use the 40,000 sq ft indoor facility plus outdoor space when weather is good. Heat days, rain days, thunderstorms — we move inside and the camp keeps going. BVSA never cancels for weather.

Can I sign one kid up for one week and another kid for a different week?

Yes. Each week is independent and self-contained. Mix and match across kids, friends, and schedules — sign each camper up for the weeks that work for your family.

What’s your refund policy?

Full refund if cancelled 14+ days before camp starts. 50% refund 7–14 days out. Inside 7 days we’ll do our best to swap you to another week. Email info@bvacademy.com.

Will Bobby Valentine actually be there?

Bobby drops in throughout the summer — but the camp runs daily under our full-time BVSA coaching staff that he personally trained. Every kid gets the BVSA standard, every day.

How many campers per week?

All-Sports Camp: capped at 20 campers/week for a 1:5 coach ratio. Skills Lab: 12 athletes per sport per week (6 in Week 1) so coaches can give individual feedback.

What’s the difference between All-Sports Camp and Skills Lab?

All-Sports Camp ($500/wk, 3 hrs/day): multi-sport games and competition — kickball, dodgeball, gaga ball, wiffle ball, daily team challenges, Friday tournament. For kids who want to play hard and have fun. Skills Lab ($550/wk, 2 hrs/day): small-group baseball or softball training focused on hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running. For serious players building fundamentals. Some families do both.

Can my child do both All-Sports Camp and Skills Lab in the same week?

Yes — Skills Lab runs 10am–12pm and the All-Sports Camp 12pm–3pm window starts right after. Pack a lunch, do both. We see families pair them all summer.

Where is BVSA located?

4 Largo Drive, Stamford, CT 06907. Easy access from I-95 and the Merritt Parkway, ~5 minutes from downtown Stamford. Drop-off and pick-up are at the main entrance.
