Jonathan Velasquez

A Bronx native now living in Stamford, Jonathan Velasquez brings nearly a decade of professional baseball experience to BVSA. Over nine seasons in Minor League Baseball and Independent League Baseball, Jon played for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets organizations, as well as top independent teams.

Throughout his career, Jon built a championship pedigree, contributing to four league titles:
2009 Sally League Champion – Philadelphia Phillies (Low-A Lakewood BlueClaws)
2014 Eastern League Champion – AA Binghamton Mets
2014 & 2015 Puerto Rican Winter League Champion – Cangrejeros de Santurce
2016 Atlantic League Champion – Sugar Land Skeeters

Jon also earned All-Star selections in both Minor League Baseball and the Puerto Rican Winter League, and in 2015, he represented Team Puerto Rico in the Caribbean Series, competing against some of the best talent in the world.

Now a dedicated coach with four years of experience, Jon is passionate about player development. He loves seeing young athletes have fun, learn something new, and improve every day. For Jon, the best part of baseball has always been putting on the jersey, stepping onto the field, and competing alongside teammates. His experience, leadership, and passion make him an invaluable resource for developing players at BVSA. Check out this awesome personal account of his journey.
