Anthony Conte

Anthony hopped behind the plate at 8 years old.  Immediately he fell in love with all that came with catching and it was on from there! He was a catcher for Trinity Catholic High School, but that’s only 1/10th of the story.  He has been with BVSA since 2006 and has created his own narrative that eclipses his playing career ten fold.

Anthony started volunteering at indoor baseball facilities at 12 years old.  It was a no brainer after realizing he could get his training done, even though he couldn’t afford regular lessons.  In his words “I needed a lot more work than I could afford lol.”

So many things lined up for BVSA and Anthony to cross paths. For starters, being an Italian baseball player in Stamford, he was a big fan of Bobby Valentine.  He had frequented his sports bar and restaurant as a kid and met Bobby many times.  So he was pumped in the fall of 2006 his friends Bobby Schoenherr and John O’Leary needed a bullpen catcher for their lessons.  They were training with BVSA’s then pitching coach, Mark Lacerenza.  Before long, Anthony and Mark were doing 30-35 hours a week of pitching lessons.  Mark taught Anthony first hand about the NPA and Tom House’s ideologies.  Moreover, he helped Anthony discover that creating a process and routine helps establish confidence for athletes and people.  It was more than just baseball with Mark and those philosophies stuck with Anthony.

“teach a person how to fish instead of just handing them one. it was exactly how my dad raised us so it made sense.” – Anthony on the BVSA curriculum

He is the definition of what makes BVSA’s curriculum and training program so incredible.  Passion for education and imparting knowledge and respect onto every player he encounters.  He is blessed with a knack for making players understand his message.  Constantly talking to them about progress both mentally and physically as athletes and people. Anthony graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2014 with a degree in Psychology.

Anthony founded Scouted Sports – A service for players of all skill levels that are looking to play in college or beyond. Currently holds the position of Director of Operations at Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy.  Responsibilities include website management, marketing approach and execution, instructor and whatever else is needed.  He was also the Varsity Baseball Coach at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan for 7 seasons.  When he is not coaching or working, Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife Susan, son Mario James, daughter Riley Ward, pit bull Nahla and big, local Italian family.
