Frank Ramppen

Frank’s journey began at Rippowam High School, earning All County and All State honors. His passion for baseball led him to the University of Tampa, where he walked on, earned a scholarship, and captained the team, achieving all-conference honors before being drafted by the Minnesota Twins. Playing alongside Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett, Frank won the California league championship in 1983​​.

Frank’s professional journey took him to Japan as part of Bobby Valentine’s coaching staff for the Chiba Lotte Marines, where he served in various coaching roles, including infield and hitting coach, contributing to their Japanese and Asian professional championships in 2005. Remarkably, all four infielders under his guidance won gold gloves in the same year, a first in Japanese baseball history​​.

Mike Abate

Mike Abate’s distinguished career as both a player and a coach makes him a standout choice for athletes seeking to elevate their baseball skills. Beginning his journey as a high school baseball standout, Mike’s talent was recognized early when he was drafted by the California Angels in 1996. Opting to refine his skills in college first, he achieved Junior College All-American honors in 1997 and 1998, even clinching the Rawlings National Junior College Player of the Year award in 1998. His prowess on the field led to a second draft, this time by the Seattle Mariners in 1998, where he earned the Mariners Minor League Spring Training Player of the Year in 2000. An injury may have cut short his baseball playing career, but Mike’s athletic talent extended to football, where he excelled as the starting QB for Southern Connecticut State University, setting records and even signing a professional contract with the Manchester Wolves of the Arena league in 2005​​.

Transitioning into coaching, Mike brought his extensive experience to Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy, where he has served as Director and Curriculum Coordinator since 2006. Under his leadership, BVSA has developed one of the most respected training programs in the industry. As the head coach of the Greenwich Senior Legion Cannons, Mike’s impact is evident in his impressive 310-99 record over 14 seasons, alongside several Division/Zone/State and regional titles. His commitment to developing young talent was recognized when the New York Mets appointed him as a Spring Training Hitting Coach and a Professional Northeast Scout. Mike’s philosophy revolves around understanding each athlete’s unique needs, effectively communicating training strategies, and ensuring skills become second nature through repetition​​​​.

Kevin Bruggeman​

Kevin Bruggeman’s journey from a young enthusiast training at Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy since the age of 10 to a professional athlete is a testament to dedication and hard work. A standout catcher at Hofstra University, Kevin’s collegiate career was distinguished by his exceptional performance, culminating in First Team All-CAA accolades in 2023. His impressive stats, including a .325 batting average with 20 doubles, six home runs, 41 RBIs, and 50 runs scored in his final season, highlight his impact on the field. Over his four years at Hofstra, Kevin demonstrated remarkable consistency and leadership, evident in his .292 career batting average over 132 games.

Kevin’s achievements extend beyond college baseball; his talent was recognized at the New England Collegiate Baseball League, where he was named the MVP of the 2023 NECBL All-Star Game while playing for the Upper Valley Nighthawks. Anthony Conte has been a pivotal figure at Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy since 2006, primarily focusing on content production and platform research. As a key contributor to BVSA’s online training platform, his behind-the-scenes work has been instrumental in its development and launch, showcasing his dedication to enhancing athletic training through innovative solutions. Tyler Restivo

Tyler Restivo, a former athlete from Stamford, Connecticut, is passionate about baseball and has a strong background in exercise science. During his high school years, Tyler attended AITE, but since the school lacked sports teams, he played baseball for Stamford High. Growing up in a family with a bodybuilding background, Tyler developed a love for staying active and pursued his passion for baseball.

After graduating high school, Tyler had the opportunity to play college baseball for two years at UConn Avery Point while studying exercise science. During this time, he dedicated himself to researching and learning the intricacies of pitching. Through hard work and dedication, Tyler was able to significantly improve his pitching speed from 78 to 91 mph. In addition to his focus on pitching, Tyler also assisted his teammates with hitting, throwing, and strength training.

With a deep connection to his hometown of Stamford, Tyler is eager to share his knowledge and love for baseball with others. He believes his background in exercise science and personal experience in improving his game give him a unique ability to help people enhance their baseball skills. Whether individuals are interested in developing their pitching, hitting, or overall baseball fitness, Tyler is committed to providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals.
